About the Program
Comprehensive Training in Psychoanalysis
The Four-Year Program combines the study of major psychoanalytic traditions with sustained clinical experience, individual supervision, and personal analysis.
During the first three years, candidates study contemporary Freudian, modern analytic, object relations, relational, self psychological, and other psychoanalytic perspectives while developing their own approach to clinical work. The fourth year moves into advanced study, with integrative seminars, specialized courses, and electives that encourage candidates to compare, synthesize, and apply different theoretical perspectives.
The program is designed to support the development of a thoughtful and flexible psychoanalytic practice rather than adherence to a single school of thought.

"I knew when I chose PPSC that I’d get a great educational experience with lots of intellectual stimulation. What I didn’t know is that I’d also get a professional home. It’s often said that private practice is isolating. I’ve never experienced that because of the community at PPSC."
-- Panthea, 4-Year Program Graduate

"All my class experiences were very fruitful but the group supervision course stands out. I found the course to be a confluence of group process and synergy, as well as an incorporation of theory and practice in a way that I found stimulating and thought provoking."
