About the Program

Training Across Theory, Technique, and Clinical Experience

PPSC’s Three-Year Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy provides licensed clinicians with a thorough academic grounding in psychoanalytic theory, drawing from contemporary Freudian, modern, object relations, interpersonal, relational, intersubjective and self psychological schools of thought.

This close study of theory and technique is deepened by psychoanalytically-based supervision and the candidate’s own personal analysis, giving candidates a solid foundation for effective clinical work. We believe this provides a solid foundation from which candidates can practice effective and quality treatment. Classes are held in the afternoon or evening, so working professionals can train part-time.

Graduates of the Three-Year Program who are interested in a more intensive and long-term analytic formation can continue in the Four-Year Program and can apply all their coursework, supervision and analysis credits toward the Four-Year Program requirements.

"When I applied to PPSC’s 3-year program, my priority was accumulating licensing hours. I knew I’d also be learning, but I had NO IDEA how transformative these classes would be. The training and supervision are game-changers, and the community itself is an engaging and reliable source of support. I’m proud to call PPSC my professional home."

"I would highly recommend PPSC! My training at PPSC increased my clinical confidence and I gained a wonderful community of like-minded peers. I had a small private practice when I started my training. When I completed I was able to leave my hospital job to maintain a consistently full private practice. I only wish I started at PPSC earlier."
